The year 2017 saw an explosion of games across the video game industry, with some of the biggest hits of the year such as The Last of Us, Rocket League, and Battlefield 1 coming out on platforms like Steam and iOS.
But even as more titles came out this year, a handful of games still stand out as the best games of 2017, according to a new infographic from National Geographic.
The infographic, created by video game historian Mike Pachter, features a selection of the best video games of the 2017 holiday season.
The game list is broken down into four categories: Platforms, Narratives, Narrative-Driven Games, and Adventure Games.
The infographic also breaks down the top 10 games from each of these categories.
While many of these games are in a genre we’re familiar with, like shooters, the chart is a bit different from past years.
Instead of the usual list of best shooters and platformers, there are five games that stand out from the pack.
These are Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Go for Nintendo 3DS, Pokemon Sun/Moon, and Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon.
The top five games on this year’s list are a bit more difficult to find on other platforms, however, as these games aren’t as readily available in other platforms.
In fact, there aren’t many games on the list that are available on other consoles, like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
In addition, the top five are all very well known, such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Nintendo Switch and Super Mario Odyssey for the PS4.
In all, the Top 10 Best Games of 2017 list includes over 150 titles from every major platform, including a handful new releases, a few familiar favorites, and some new favorites that are worth picking up.
